Why don't you simply open an account in your name only, transfer everything to it then either close the account or remove your own name from it?0

The T&Cs for the joint account might specify that the signature of both account holders is needed to remove an account holder, or to close the account. From information in this thread, I gather this is the case for the OP, so he simply can't do what you suggest.

The link that was posted earlier in this thread about Nationwide joint accounts does not state that the signature of both account holders is needed to close the account, only to remove an account holder. So closing the account does seem a solution to the issue.friolento said:GrubbyGirl_2 said:Why don't you simply open an account in your name only, transfer everything to it then either close the account or remove your own name from it?
