Managed to get a sensible human on the phone today and they just zeroed the balance and closed the account. They couldn’t understand why the account had been opened either, except that it seemed to have been set up by some sort of third party service.They sent me a follow up email confirming everything we’d discussed over the phone. No need to speak to the bereavement team, potentially because it was for such a small amount and it made sense just to zero the balance and close it down as a goodwill gesture.3
