eBay/Paypal potential scam - will QR codes help

I've seen several messages on here about this subject but not one specifically mentioning this, so apologies if this has been covered in another post.
I'm selling my car for spares and repairs on various sites and have been contacted by someone on eBay offering to pay by Paypal, send someone to pick it up, account only created two weeks ago, etc. Scam, right? I was wondering if calling the bluff and saying I'll accept payment via Paypal QR code in person might help flush out the scammers? If someone's prepared to travel across the country to do that then they'll be legit, but I suspect I'll get the usual "no, need to sort payment in advance, I can't get there" and so on so can dispense with the timewaster. What says the MSE hivemind?

It's almost certainly a scam , tell them that as its listed on ebay they can pay via paypal but the pick up person will need to bring the QR code that they get from Managed payments before you release the car. You'll almost certainly never hear from them again. With managed payments the QR code protects a seller now so if they are genuine you are safe.asingardenof said:I've seen several messages on here about this subject but not one specifically mentioning this, so apologies if this has been covered in another post.I'm selling my car for spares and repairs on various sites and have been contacted by someone on eBay offering to pay by Paypal, send someone to pick it up, account only created two weeks ago, etc. Scam, right?
