HDMI freeview connected to monitor...

I've got a 22" widescreen monitor which has connections for HDMI and dsub. If I buy a freeview box with HDMI connection can I connect it the monitor to watch freeview, then connect the line out from the monitor to a speaker system to get decent quality sound?

Thanks

  • You can, but you won't be watching HD TV yet as the broadcasters aren't yet broadcasting in HD on terrestrial TV. It is coming though, so you would be future proofing yourself. However, you may find you are paying more than you need to if you buy now

The reason why I'm asking is because when I not using my pc I'll be able to watch freeview on the monitor.

Pc connected via dsub - freeview connected via hdmi. Should be a case of switching whichever off.

Thanks just wanted to double check if I could do it before I bought a freeview box, not bother about HD TV.
