Have been waiting for a dry and sunny week-long weather in my area so that I can begin to put up my 'old sofa seat' as an upcycled-trellis for my Clematis. The current and broken trellis of my Clematis was destroyed by strong winds in early Winter (that was made from quality wood, the old frames of an old shed, which survived for 3 years). Glad that Spring time is late here and the plant does not have new shoots yet. The shoots will begin to show in mid-April so i have the next two weeks to take my chances.
Quite a challenge to find tall and sturdy trellis for robust climbers, so this upcycling will save me loads of money. Don't mind paying for quality if available but they don't exist in my area most of the time.

Would love to see your money-saving upcycling stuff and what will be their new lease of life in your garden. I enjoy upcycling stuff and be creative in using them in our garden.

It is a Feature in our CanopyGarden ....

Been a very successful Easter Weekend. Started the upcycling repurposing, and it is on its way to its new lease of life. Unfortunately, the rainy days have returned lol  :(

  • Been a great week that just past. Time flies quickly as i personally observed - just when you wanted to do more gardening tasks to completion. Not complaining, as things are progressing ...

Have this Petiolaris plant that has been planted near the fence by a former owner of the house, neglected to say the least. When I was doing the landscaping of the entire back yard 6 years ago, i found this little plant regrowing.  I let it grow for a year and bloomed, its actually a Petiolaris Hydrangea. This is a climber plant that can grow big and heavy if not attended. The challenge was to create a strong trellis for it - can't find a good make of a metal strong trellis for it. In our garage was a set of metal bed frames (head/foot) so I decided to convert these into Petiolaris trellis ... installed, tied the growing branches to climb it.

    Sharing you the photo below

This is to keep the plant from climbing the fence. And with that, i just save myself with over £500 worth of metal trellis for now. Of course, there will be another phase of trellis that will be built if and when the plant will grow outrageously, or if and when i wanted to grow to its fullest in 20 years - I don't plan that way, controlling its growth will be best as an architectural element in the garden, plus to enjoy its strong sweet scent during mid-spring.

    Cheers!

  • Beautiful garden and fantastic reusing items!

Big fan of upcycling too - we found an old bird feed stand from previous owner which we are upcycling ready for herbs growing.
