Sky wont connect Sky + box...where to go?

Hi,

In a money saving moment my partner and i decided to get Sky + from Ebay rather than sky thinking that we would be saving money and all we would need to do is get connected. (we have sky already)

We called Sky and they said that because we didnt get the box from them that they wont connect it.

Is there any one else who can do this? (we have dish) or should i just put it back on ebay and go via sky?

Sorry, i'm not sure if this is the correct place for this.
One day, I AM going to be out of debt. I'm just not sure when.

Best option for you may be to recommend a freind. Sky will give you both a new Sky+ box and install them for free.

Alternatively some people have been offered a deal from retentions department when they phone up to cancel, but ..........

Why don't you contact a local independent installer who will connect it up for you.
Or you could just do it yourself, you need a quad LNB, satellite grade coax and f-Type connectors.
Plenty of info on the web just google.
you will also need to ring Sky to match your viewing card with your new box to activate the recording feature.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

agree open up the yellow pages and get a few quotes with independent fitters.
  • Thanks for all your help so far. It all sounds a bit techinical! I have the yellow pages open now but I'm not too sure what it would be under?

A few months back I rang sky up requesting to cancel as I could not watch the programmes i wanted and they offered sky + initially for £149.

I advised them that I could not afford this and that if they could not give me a better deal I would cancel.

They then offered my it for £99, I refused, then £49, I refused, and then finally a refurbish option for free.

I got a refurb sky+ box in mint conditon supplied and fitted for free.

You could try this if you are out of contract.
  • oh i think that is an even better option!

I do feel as though i have missed out - when we purchased our tv there was an offer for free sky + if you spent over a certain amount but at the time we were living in an apartment where we couldn't change the wires in and out so had to pass on this.

I'm sure I have also seen free Sky + for new customers too.

I think it may be time to get on the phone and give them a call (on their expensive number)
