wondering if someone could clarify something for me.
I'm self-employed and I noticed that 3 years ago I only earned around £6000 and could have transferred my marriage allowance to my wife, if I do a back dated claim for only that year I take it the allowance won't be automatically applied to all following years as I wouldn't be eligible?

All years 2019-20 to 2022-23 should be individual applications.
Application for the current tax year (2023-24) would continue until you were ineligible or cancelled it.
It's only being a higher rate payer that makes you ineligible.1
