I am intollerant to Quorn, it makes me violently ill, and I tried plain soya mince and found it tasted like cardboard cornflakes, i.e. wasn't very nice at all. However we swear by packets of Beanfeast which is soya based. The bolognese style one is nice with a fried off onion and a tin of chopped toms added, also a splash of soy sauce and/or a teaspoon of marmite stirred in.
Beanfeast says on the pack to simmer for 20 mins, if that helps as a guide to timings.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

The best non-meat mince I've found is Realeat vegan mince; really very acceptable (in fact I'm doing a shepherd's pie with it tonight; I soak it in veg stock first). I've used dried TVP in the past and it doesn't freeze well; has a horrible tang if reheated. I steer clear of Quorn as it gives me a strange stomachache.0

to be honest im starting to go off these fake minces, soya mince just looks horrible and seems very processed. its weird when you think its been made from a soya bean. also quorn has never appealed to me that much although i dont mind the escalopes and chili burgers. i dont know which of the 2 is the most natural unprocessed product. where did they get the name quorn from anyway, it sounds a bit funny.0
