Winter fuel payment help
Why is the cut off date for this benefit to pensions People born before September 25, 1957 I could have done with the help but my birthday is 26 September 1957. does that mean i may get it but year 25/26? I just wondered why the cut off day, a day before I was born is set, many thanks

My wife was equally upset and her birthday was in October.
She and you will get it this year (not 25/26)
PS Asked MSE to transfer to Energy (not a Water question)Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
Born before 25th September 1957 means that being born on 24th was the cut-off date for 23-24. Two days out for you.
You will be eligible for next year's payment.
I'm an mid October baby and was born some 21 days too late to get the WFP in my first State Pension year.
Why?
Well "thems the rules" as set by Government in Law I suspect. Same as why we were always the oldest in our School class years, and my kid brother - early September birthday - always the youngest.1 -
Quite simply: there has to be a cutoff somewhere.2
