Can my car insurer refuse to allow me to see photos of my car taken by their approved recovery company.
My car was affected by a fire at an airport whilst I was on holiday and I wasnt permitted access to it before it was removed for assessment.

I dont see why they would unless there is just technical difficulties if they are submitted via an app.

What rational have they given for refusing?

You could try a DSAR explicitly asking for any images of your vehicle, if the registration plate is still visible it would probably be classed as Personal Information as it can be traced to you as the registered keeper.
