Premium Bond Question.

Can anyone cast any light on this?
Back at the beginning of March, I received notification from NS and I, that I had won £100 on my premium bond holdings.
£100 subsequently appeared in my current account.
All fine.
Today, I log on to on-line banking to pay a bill and notice that yesterday ie. 25/3/2024, a random £50 has been deposited by NS and I for a premium bond payout.
What's all that about then?
I can't find anything on their website to explain this.

Premium bond payments are near the start of the month. If you check your premium bond account you can see your prize history. If you didn't win this £50 then the money must belong to someone else.

Occasionally some of the original winners don't qualify for some reason or another so they select more winners from the draw. You might be one of these. Check your PBs at NS&I

I had this a few years ago, they pay out unclaimed funds after a while, cannot remember the exact description of the process or how you are selected.
I had to call them to find out why I had received an unexpected amount.1 -
AIUI there is a second draw following NS&I checking on the validity of the original winners.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3662

And why would an original winner not be valid?0

One of the criteria for the winning bond being eligible is that the holder was alive within the last 12 months.rallycurve said:And why would an original winner not be valid?

Well you learn something every day on here!
I did check on the prize checker but nothing new showed up there.
I shall not get excited - yet - just in case they want it back.0 -

The thing is they record the win against the month for which the ineligible prize was generated so you might find you need to go back to between 1 and 2 years to find it. It gets retrospectively added to your prize for that month. You will get a letter within the next week confirming the prize (but I don't think it tells you for what month)

The letter confirming the prize arrived today and stated "the prize has been reallocated to you because the original winner was not eligible to receive it".
It relates to the June 2023 prize draw apparently.
Thanks all.
The drinks are on me - well, they are until the £50 runs out!
