TSB Bank App chat with support times out and logs us out while typing

While using the TSB Banking App chat feature if we type a longer than usual message, the App times out and logs me out.
I've complained to TSB Bank. They've said only sending and receiving messages count as 'actions' and typing does not count as an 'action'. They've said it's a security feature, but they've also said they've provided the relevant team with feedback.
Funny thing is, if we are on the recent transactions screen and don't type or tap anything for an extended period (I presume going by TSB this would count as no 'action'), then a box pops up offering us the option to remain logged in (with a count down and if we don't choose an option then logged out automatically).
I've been caught out by the above a couple of occasions and had to retype the long messages. Now I have to remember to type the message outside the App, then copy and paste it to the App.
Been using numerous banking apps over the years and this is the one and only occasion where I've been told typing doesn't count as an 'action' and that automatic logout while typing is a 'security feature'. So, I'm sceptical (doubtful) whether to buy it!

You'll probably find that the "inaction - do you want more time" type message is generated in the background but the chat section overlays that so you don't see it.
