2023 redundancy protection act

Options
Hi all
First time posting so apologies if there is already a thread but couldn't find one to do with the new act.
I went back to work in August after maternity leave but today I've been told my job is at risk of redundancy and we are now in the 2 weeks consultation period. It's a small company and I'm 100% positive they are going to make me redundant.
But I read while on maternity that a new act was being finalised to protect people on maternity or just returned from maternity from redundancy. Where if you have a child under 18 months old you are protected and my daughter has recently only turn 13 months . So I checked it up and the act was finalised at the start of March but won't take affect till April 6th.
So I was wondering even though they have start the consultation period will I still be protected ?

Short answer is no, the new legislation is applicable only in circumstances where the due date of birth is on or after 6th April 2024.
