I have a smets2 meter that isn't smart it will not send readings and my supplier all they suggested is I pay DNO to get my smart meter moved to see if that fixes it. It used to work when EON fitted it but hasn't worked since flitting to EDF and Octopus.
Now if they introduce this time of day metering will people like me who went down the smart meter route be penelised because their meter isn't working?1 -
That seems slightly odd, have you raised a formal complaint? EDF I could understand, especially as they are in the middle of a system migration, but I am surprised Octopus have not at least sent an engineer.sav0 said:I have a smets2 meter that isn't smart it will not send readings and my supplier all they suggested is I pay DNO to get my smart meter moved to see if that fixes it. There will likely be two tariffs, a ToU tariff, with variable cost in different windows and a non-ToU tariff which will be at a higher rate throughout the whole day, although at least initially not at the level of the peak rate on the ToU tariff. I suspect that there would also be some accommodation for those with non-working smart meters, but zero accommodation for those who refuse to have one fitted.sav0 said:Now if they introduce this time of day metering will people like me who went down the smart meter route be penelised because their meter isn't working?1 -
I'd like to think they'd build into the system something where people who have a smart meter and have registered it as not working have a tariff that does not cost them more due to that issue. That would put the onus on the supplier to get it fixed. It'd have to cater for those who cannot get the current versions of smart meters due to localised comms issues too.sav0 said:I have a smets2 meter that isn't smart it will not send readings and my supplier all they suggested is I pay DNO to get my smart meter moved to see if that fixes it. And the tin-foil heids who refuse to have a smart meter "because Daily Mail" should have a tariff that does cost them more

I would expect there to be many more than just two tariffs, assuming suppliers are allowed at least some degree of creativity. Just looking at Octopus they already have multiple such tariffs, Agile, two versions of Flux, some EV tariffs.3

Lots of hard working people have lived for decades in homes with E7 and E10 tariffs. It's not a new thing... though being able to charge an EV overnight for pennies is.bristolleedsfan said:

Ho hum.
