Credit file inaccuracies

Options
I am trying to contact the 3 CRA's after a lender has upheld my complaint but entered administration before they updated my file and removed the defaults (as they agreed to in the response to me).

I notice that all three seem to be wanting me to buy a report from them and then reference this report. Is that a requirement? I use "check my file" and don't want to get caught with extra costs to be able to raise the issue using a experian/equifax/TU reference number.

You can obtain a statutory credit report from each CRA.

You may have to search for the links to it.

This MSE article contains links to check all 3 of your CRA reports for free: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/check-free-credit-report/
I must admit I'm not sure how you would get the default removed.  The usual reply is that only the lender can remove it, by sending updated information to the CRA - the CRA themselves cannot amend data, they simply report on the data that's supplied to them by lenders.  If the lender is no longer trading, I'm afraid I don't know what the correct procedure would be.  I guess you could send a copy of the correspondence you received from the lender to the CRA and see what they say?
