Mp3 Volume on 8GB N95

Have just got this phone and I think it is a good alternative to the i-phone. However, the volume on the MP3 player is quiet I think. I have it on full volume and can still hear the conversations of people standing beside me. On the tube I can hardly hear it. Is there any program I can use to increase the volume? I have tried one called MP3 gain which increases it, but not by much. Thanks for your advice in advance.

Highly risky, but you could try this
I rarely give caveats, but on this occasion, please don't hold me responsible if it goes pear shaped!
The reason for the low volume level is because the EU felt to many of its citizens were getting knocked down because they didn't hear oncoming traffic0 -
I'm not sure about phone-specific programmes (not something I know much about), but what headphones are you using? this can affect your ability to hear the music quite significantly and often the headphones which come with portable music systems aren't that reat and are worth replacing.
I mostly use sennheiser HD25s andfind them great, but they're pretty big (I also use them music workthat I do) and expensive. I also use a pair of Sony in-ear 'phones which cost me about 20-25quid around 4 yrs ago (don't have them to hand right now to give more details, sorry!) and they significantly cut external noise even when there's no music playing on my ipod. I suggest you head to the sony site and take a look at their in-ear 'phones to see the current range. also try skullcandy full metal jacktes, or the cheaper option - smokin' buds (same company, skullcandy) which I've heard good things about but have yet to try.

Thanks for your help. I will look at the website you have showed me. The headphones I have are gear4 bluphones, so they are not wired but A2DP. I have tried them with my girlfriends Sennheiser px200 and the difference in volume is not noticeable. She uses a 30GB ipod and the volume difference between that and the N95 is considerable. Red Rose I have had a look at the link you posted and I cannot find anything for increasing the volume. Would you be able to post a direct link to that if you would be so kind?0

It's the upgrading the firmware on his blog. The firmware on EU models of the N95 limits volume to 100dB0
-
I see. I changed the firmware previously to euro - 1 to get rid of the buggy vodaphone firmware. So I will now have to change it again to increase the music volume? If this works I will give it a go. What region do I change it to though?0

Try the firmware version 12.0.0.0130
-
Thanks yet again, but I think that will only work with the silver N95 not the 8GB N95 version. I was led to believe they are not compatible. The silver version has gone up to firmware version 20 while the 8GB has only had one firmware update which is at number 11. If I am wrong please correct me.0

Now you have got me!!
Time for me to Google!0 -
Nope, version 12.0.0.14 available according to this site and 12.0.0.15 out for Asia N950
-
Thats still for the silver N95 I think. That thread was started in Sept and the 8GB N95 was not even out then, I don't think. The firmware updates for the silver N95 and the 8GB version are not compatible and will not work. I have looked at other websites like allaboutsymbian and they do not know how to do it either. Most of them just say I am deaf.0
