By my wife informing UC through the portal that she is now caring for me, does she have to make a seperate claim for carers allowance?

I seem to remember a poster that was claiming council tax reduction and the council would ignore CA as income, but not the CE of UC. Would/ could this affect the OP?

Also does having the carer element qualify for events where carers go free, or do you need carers allowance for that?
I don't know where you find carers element to show proof of entitlement...unless that would be in your statement that you print off?0 -
