Good to hear, a bit of persistence wins the day again.
There again it helps if/when you know they are wrong and it's time to push back.

Totally, if it weren´t for the contributors here i would have taken them at their word.... worrying thoughts, how many people are missing out because their claims have not been processed correctly.

Sorry thought my questions were over.

By my wife informing UC through the portal that she is now caring for me, does she have to make a seperate claim for carers allowance?

    Thank you

No, she doesn't have to.  It would be deducted in full from UC so there'd be no financial benefit to it.

I haven't read though the complete thread so might not be relevant, but like to ask for peace of mind.
I seem to remember a poster that was claiming council tax reduction and the council would ignore CA as income, but not the CE of UC. Would/ could this affect the OP?

That would be interesting to know.

Also does having the carer element qualify for events where carers go free, or do you need carers allowance for that?

I don't know where you find carers element to show proof of entitlement...unless that would be in your statement that you print off?

For this they usually ask to see proof of your disability benefit... PIP/DLA, rather than asking for carers allowance proof.
