I would be slightly worried about them coming back, but presumably the watch is insured and would be at more risk and not insured if say uncle were to hold onto it until a genuine buyer is found.

If they knew where the watch was stored, move it. Do you have Ring cameras or similar in place? If you could possibly increase your security at home, now might be the time.

My husband is fitting cameras this afternoon.

The watch is insured,  Worryingly, if they had made off with it on Sunday, our insurance would not have paid out as we ‘invited’ them into our home.

It’s currently being kept away from the home, I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing as if they did turn up they wouldn’t believe it’s not there.

I hid our car keys too, as they had seen where we kept them.  My son rightly pointed out that it’s probably best to leave them where they were to prevent them potentially going further into the house in the worst  case scenario.

Its wrong that people have to think like that.

My apologies, I was really shook up when I wrote the post on my phone.

i wasn’t really thinking straight or paying much attention to the layout.

The small phone screen didn’t help either, as I was only able to see a small area.

    It won’t happen again

    thank you

No need to apologise; I wouldn't have been thinking straight either. Hope you're feeling calmer now.

Sorry this has happened to you it must have been very frightening.  If the watch belonged to me I think I would take it to an auction house rather than try to sell yourself.

    Take care.

I was thinking the same. Of course there will be the exorbitant (imo) seller's fees to pay but at least is is a totally safe way to sell something.
