AA automatic renewal

Options
It was only when I checked my bank statement that I saw that AA had automatically renewed my cover at a hugely increased price!  I checked my emails and saw that they had upgraded me to silver membership but no mention of how much I had been charged.  Am I likely to get my money back if I complain?  Have others had the same treatment from AA??

If you leave auto renewal active on your account then there is no cooling off period, so you'll just have to make a complaint and see what happens.

I have always had advance notification that a renewal will be happening so if you just missed the email then you may be out of luck.

I have always got a letter from the AA when approaching renewal telling me the price etc.  You should have got one.

I've just got mine tbh, but I paid upfront, probably had an effect on the auto renew.

I had this in the past, it's becoming common with a lot of organisations. I like the AA, so you just need to be aware, that is what they do. Do complain, they should cancel it, provided you haven't left it too long.

    Same here.

Even if it was going to auto renew, I've always had a letter in advance.
  • Thank you so much everyone for your comments.  I rang them yesterday and they took 140.00 off my renewal.  I have also asked them to take off auto renewal - I didn’t realise I had asked for it in the first place!
