Nationwide FlexPlus Travel Insurance Change to Aviva

Do you know what the definition of a dependent child is under the new travel insurance from Aviva which commences 1 May 2024? It states under 23 and no need to be in full time education, so does that mean any of your unmarried children, under 23 that live at your home? I don't think of my son as dependent as he has has a job (although still lives at home) but sounds as if he will be covered from 1 May. I cannot find anything to state their definition of a dependent child and when I phoned Nationwide they wasn't sure either!

For other purposes a son or daughter under 23 living at home and working full time would not be considered dependent. But you will need to get them to confirm, in writing, what it means to them.
A few years back I rang up our travel insurance to check they meant by "serious illness or death of a close family member" as my dad was having health issues. They confirmed if anything (hospitalisation to death) happen I was covered for cancellation or cutting the trip short. Then I mentioned he lived in Canada and they said despite him being my father he wasn't "close" as he didn't live in the UK. Someone did backtrack on this and I made sure I had all details in case I needed them (fortunately I didn't)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
