Merlin Annual Pass - Any Point to the Discovery Pass?

I'm thinking about the Annual Pass.
It seems many dates are not valid for the Discovery pass, so I am almost wondering what the point of it is.
Does anyone have an annual pass?
Which one and why did you choose that?
Is it really worth it?
From the calculations, I'd have to visit somewhere four times in a year to make the pass worth it but with various restrictions, I'm not sure I want to bother with checking and then finding out I can't go on the dates I want to.
