  • What to do with the system?

Fix is not easy as panel/electric/Pigeon is causing damage to roof. Whole system is not stable.

My take on this is that refunding isn't necessarily full restitution, unless you agreed to take it on that basis. So you shouldn't cave in if the installer tries to claim ownership of the equipment.

First thing I think I'd do is get quotes to fix it and bring it up to the expected standard. Does this come to more or less than the amount agreed when you went ahead with the original order?

One alternative and personally the only alternative I would accept, I personally would put in a recorded letter stating the your terms..

That a HIES installer is contracted to inspect the installation and any damaged allegedly during caused the installation, (a) estimate the cost to both remove the system and make good, (b) the cost to repair the alleged damage to the roof and (c) cost to make good the installation.

Is it possible to get MCS certification retrospectively? By which I mean paying an MCS certified installer to carry whatever is needed to bring the installation up to scratch.

Yes, it is possible but new installer charges are Hugh.

Amount refunded by credit card company without any conditions but accept this as final payment.

Regardless of the credit card company, the installation is still the property of the installer and regardless they have not been paid, you need to contact the installer to resolve the situation, don't hide your head in the sand.
