OVO charging me before being a tenant

What was your / Octopus's reading for the 18th when your started the new contract? If you / Octopus didn't take a reading then you can only rely on whatever OVO say, meaning you still won't pay for the same units again, but it maybe at a different rate - that's the risk taken with not having provable readings at each changeover of supplier or occupier.Marco84 said:Their final gas reading is also 400+ units higher than the photo I took on 16th… still no reply from them.0 -
On 16th I got tenancy I had 05339 (photographed) reading I gave Octopus was 05345 (photographed) Octopus credited my account £250~ I flagged that up with Octopus, they took it back and used my photographed figure. I thought it was all sorted.
Now this month OVO coming along with their 05746 figure and ignoring communication.0 -
If your final bill with OVO is only £27 & they have used the reading of 7546 the previous OVO bills must have been estimated otherwise you would have had a bill for £250+.Your new supplier is responsible for giving your old supplier the reading with which to close their account & it must match.If Octopus have started your account on the reading of 5345 then they must have raised a dispute with OVO & they should then change their final reading to match. This can take up to 6 weeks.Octopus cannot just change your reading without doing this, but then again they tend to be a law unto themselves & think normal rules don’t apply to them.Your best bet is to ring & speak to OVO rather than wait for a response to your email. Ask them if they have received the disputed reading flows for the gas. Explain when you moved in & that you have readings for the 2 dates & hopefully it should get sorted for you1
