they haven’t even put in the pay review body recommendations yet so who knows.

funny how the MPs managed to get theirs in while inflation was (allegedly) higher.

could go one of two ways- they will either give a decent offer to try and buy votes or totally screw us over knowing they won’t be around next year anyway to deal with the fallout.

They will probably go with a middle ground and give B5 and below a good % and screw over the smaller group of most experienced staff (as usual)
As of yesterday, Band 1 and 2 staff are now on minimum wage plus one penny per hour. Considering 5-10% rises in essential bills such as rent, water and council tax, people can't wait until later in the year for a pay rise that will need to be at least 3.5% from my back of a packet calculations just for those bills alone. They're budgeting for 2%. Expect more workers to join the queues at the food banks I guess.

Personally I did not give myself a pay rise this year, but I gave my staff 8% in January (after 8% in Jan 2023 and 8% in Jan 2022). The reason I will not increase what I take out is because of economic uncertainty, I would rather take another year or so and continue to build reserves within the business, ideally to at least a year's full costs, plus cashflow, before I start taking anything else out.

We won't find out until June as annual pay cycles run July to July.

Not expecting much as last year was only 2.5% despite the high inflation and sales haven't been great.
