Bog Banking

"Furious MPs attacked bank bosses over the strategy which means customers
are left having to use the pop-up sites in unusual locations including a
garden centre and even a public lavatory."
Perhaps I should not be amused.

Is that where you get a "bog standard bank account?"5

I've always liked the argument they use to justify the branch closures. "Less and less people are using branches and more and more using online services". Yup, that will happen if you close all the branches.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.3

Seems to be taking banking at your convenience a bit too far....

Anyone have any information of the "public lavatory" case? MPs aren't exactly known for always getting things right nor not using poetic license. A google just brings up people asking why there aren't toilets in banks.GeoffTF said:"Furious MPs attacked bank bosses over the strategy which means customers are left having to use the pop-up sites in unusual locations including a garden centre and even a public lavatory."Perhaps I should not be amused.
There's a Michelin starred restaurant in a former "public lavatory" near us and could imagine MPs forgetting to remember the former aspect were they talking about it.
Somewhat a chicken and egg question but I strongly suggest in this case the usage of branches declined before branches started closing en mass.Shakin_Steve said:I've always liked the argument they use to justify the branch closures. I don't use them myself, but when Barclays sent a letter to my father-in-law saying that they were closing his local branch, they included some data on how that branch was used. My initial reaction was "I'm surprised it's been kept open this long".DullGreyGuy said:

That's what I'd suspect too, most people wouldn't want to spend 3 hours of their time plus the cost of a bus or car park when they could do the same thing in 30 seconds at home.

We've been here before with post office closures.
The post office replaced them with mobile post offices that would visit a few times a week
No-one ever used them. What people really wanted was a place where they would bump into friends and have a chat. Theres a village near Oxford when an old lady left her entire inheritance to build a replacement post office in the village. Instead the village built a community centre and cafe with a tiny post office counter in the corner which hardly anyone uses.
Think branches can be replaced with the occasional video call with an agent for when you want reassurance of a face to face chat
And for fraud reporting when you're in a panic0 -
