People's Energy - Share holder claim

so , i have received an email which a previous thread has confirmed was sent from a legitimate source with reference to People's Energy  .."According to our records, you became a customer of People's Energy after the Data Breach. We are now writing to you (and other Former Customers who became customers after the Data Breach) to inform you about the Scheme. This is because some Former Customers have indicated that they were told that they would become shareholders in People's Energy and/or receive a share in People's Energy's profits, in certain circumstances. Those Former Customers did not in fact become shareholders or receive a share in People's Energy's profits. It is conceivable (although we believe it is unlikely), that some such Former Customers have claims arising from these circumstances."

It then explains the process in submitting a claim - however when you do claim you would need to submit an amount ?   I haven't submitted a claim as yet  and may not as want to look further into it but with no idea what sort of amount potentially we would be talking about ?  Or where to go for further information ...any Idea's

  • Sorry I can't help. I am in a similar situation to you. I cannot remember the amount but I definitely paid in something, believing that I would get a share of profits in the future.

    Who are you suing?

People's Energy are now in administration - so good luck with that one.

As mentioned Peoples Energy ceased trading so there's nothing to be gained pursuing this any further, not worth wasting time nor effort on,imho.
To be blunt, this sounds like a fly fishing,by J R Hartley type exercise, dont part with a penny to these or other similar bottom feeders.
Treat it as the trivial inconvenience that is and move on would be my view.

Asking for you to pay in to something in order to be compensated, always a scam. Plus the random capitalisation throughout the email and non legalese is a dead give away. In fact, it being an email rather them knowing your address and sending you a letter in the post is off too.

It also sounds like this email is the first time you even heard about "some Former Customers" being offered shares, so why would you even be in line for a pay out if you were never promised them from the company in the first place.

I'm the same, the deadline is by 23.59 on Monday 11th November 2024 if you want to make a claim for a data breach, or a misrepresentation, such as a promise you would be made shareholder if you joined. I'm just going to state what I was told which was a percentage. Like you I don't have the figures to work the amount out. Does anyone else on here have an idea for the sums?
  • If you believed you would be a shareholder, you may have a claim for misrepresentation, and the deadline for all claims is by 23.59 on Monday 11th November 2024. The email is legitimate, I'm just completing mine now.

Anyone had any luck with this scheme- I've been pursuing it but now been told that my claim has been rejected, and have 21 days to contest this decision. Anyone had any positive outcome?

Another here same as you, unfortunately mine has also been rejected. Would be good to hear a valid reason for contesting.
  • My claim has been rejected as well! I was also  claiming for just over £350 taken in feb22 via cardless from my bank(I hadn’t stopped direct debit so they were able to take payment without my knowledge!)bank said they couldn’t get money back! I was in credit when PE went bust-same time they took my monthly DD too! I also got debt collectors letters and bailiff letters for same amount on behalf of Alvarez marsal, it took while managed to get contact them to stop action, they said joint administrators not aware of PE cardless payment, said that was amount I owed according to PE bill! I didn’t agree with it. I had got Br gas first bill after transfer from PE in Feb22 and big bill plus they hadn’t set up DD so higher charges! I tried getting my money back fr Br gas- no joy they were going by bill supplied by PE! I had electronic of bill byPE of Sep21 but they weren’t interested plus after lot hassle only offered £137 amount equiv to DD difference! Lot of time, stress, and loss of money! I tried to claim for loss suffered as well in my claim. No mention of this at all in their letter! Yet the 2 PE directors have hefty payout from crowdfunded company and so called promise of share in profits in company when transferred to PE!
