Jumping on the debt diary bandwagon! My attempt to keep myself sane!

  • Hi Entity,
Thanks for your advice - I know what youmean about saving by not having to fork out lots for rent every month - I'm living at home at the moment and my parents have been kind enough to let me live rent free while I sort myself out a little! As soon as the credit card has gone and I'm chipping away at the overdraft though I want to start paying them a sum each month. If I was living away from home I definitely would not have been able to pay off as much money as I have in the same space of time!!

I do wish my boyfriend lived within 5 miles - that would solve a lot of problems!! Unfortunately its triple that so no CB for me!!

Not much progress made in the last couple of days except for a £ 10 refund from someone on Ebay as an item I bought wasn't as promised. I'm happy with that! And also received a £10 Tesco gift card through the post today after I complained to a company about one of their products!! Not bad for a 5 minute email!! And signed up for a savings account through Quidco which I will put my savings for tax into - should be a £20 cashback which is another little lump to pay off when I get it!!
Student loan debt - Can't bear to think about it! Prob £15,000. arrghh!

. However, I am hoping to try and earn enough through AQA to pay for it as soon as possible, which should be easy with my super fast new laptop!! I'm not going to add this total into my overdraft figure as it will hopefully disappear fairly soonish!! Justification!!

How did you get AQA to even acknowledge you. I have applied twice now and got the automated reply. And the I have seen that my request has been read, and then nothing. I have a degree, and 2 diplomas and zilch. Are you meant to put your qualifications in the in the original email that you send? Tis very frustrating and sorry for the hijack.

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Great work g-a-t, was just wondering which savings account quidco offers cashback for now?
    This is getting addictive! :D:eek:
  • Hi Chev, I did have a bit of trouble with AQA not responding at first. I sent them a couple of reminder emails which I think got them to get their act together!!I didn't put anything about my qualifications in my initial email, just requested information/application pack. It did take them a while to get back to me. I know that they're doing a big recruitment drive right now which could be the reason for the delayed reply???? Sorry I can't help more!

Have you tried using a different email address?

  • Hi Mad-Old-Tory,

The account I applied for was Alliance and Leicester. But there is also an HSBC savings account with cashback - I stupidly applied for this through without signing into quidco so no cashback for me !!

  • Gosh, just realised how long its been since I updated! Not that there's much to update! Had been waiting til payday in the middle of the month to pay some more off my card. But seem to have hit a bit of wall! Don't think I can pay as much money off this month as I would have liked as have had to spent about £120 on things I need to start setting up my mini business (they will make me money in th long run) so have less cash to spread around.
AM thinking though about paying off £120 off my card so that I'm down to a round £500. I think that will feel like enough of an achievement for now!! Then hopefully if I'm frugal for the rest of the month there will be some left over to pay off!!

Just need to try and stay positive and I should be fine - really want to get rid of my card by next month!!

  • Its been a while again since I updated - I'm just so so busy at the moment I never have time to even breathe!! However, had a lovely start to the week yesterday, which makes a change. Received a cheque from the lovely taxman with a rebate for last year of £151.80!! Yahoo! I my calculations are correct I should get another rebate this year too which will be a nice bonus! But anyway, have just paid the money off my credit card which has taken my balance down again!! Card is now down to £357.87!!! Such a lovely, do-able amount!! I'm hoping next month I can pay off the whole balance! But we shall see!! SO SO excited!! Feeling positive again now - felt a bit like I was beginning to stagnate but now I'm inspired!

  • Can't believe I haven't written another update for 10 days!!

Feeling rather excited this morning - just got paid this morning andlooking at my online banking, I have been paid just over £1000, which is £300 MORE THAN USUAL! I think its because I have been paying too much tax and after I sent off all my details I got a small rebate (see above post) for last year, and I think this is the one for this year. I will however wait until I get into work and can see my payslip in the flesh before I start spending it!!

If it is truly mine though it mines that I will be paying my entire credit card off this month!!! My original plan was to pay £175 off this month and £175 next month (so that it was gone before the interest free period ends) but now I hopefully won't have to!! I'm so unbelievably excited - just woke everyone up to tell them (funnily enough they weren't as excited as me!)

Then I can start tackling the overdraft! Ha:j :j :j
