Sibling cut out of Will

Do I need to tell them this before it goes to Probate?

They're No Contact with us all & won't officially know they're not included in the Will.

Personally I wouldn't - my sibling was cut out of a will - and they put a caveat on the probate application which delayed matters for nearly a year.

If possible, and you have a will, get probate done, and then work towards following the will detail. I'd only let them know after the event after the trouble I went through - but see what others say.

I'd agree with cymruchris. But when we thought this might happen, the other sibs agreed we'd reverse the situation doing a DOV. Another reason for getting probate first as a year's delay when you've only got 2 years to complete a DOV is cutting it fine.

Note if you want to DOV, sibs in receipt of means tested benefits aren't allowed unless they forfeit some benefits. And you don't need the approval of all sibs, just those happy to give something up.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

You don't need to tell them at all, so why do so?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

As they are estranged I would not try to contact them, but if they contact you and ask you should be honest with them. I would also get on with the probate application ASAP.
  • Thanks all.

Yeah, I really need to get on and apply for Probate.
