Does our landlord’s poor credit affect us?

We have been renting from our landlord for 10 years and due to the fact he’s selling the house, we’re moving on. But we found out recently that he is still registered as living in the house we rent as far as the building society is concerned, and has been the whole time we’ve been here. He used to live here many years ago. Aside from the fact that this must be illegal, he’s in terrible arrears on several properties and his credit record must be dire. We will be renting short term elsewhere before we buy again but would the fact that he pretends to the building society that he lives at our address affect our credit ratings as some of his defaults will apply to our address? TIA

No. It is the person, not the address that counts.Life in the slow lane2

Credit ratings are attached to people, not houses.0
