"Home Energy" - curious why mentioned so little on this board...

When my lovely Sainsbury's Energy fix ended last November, I mentioned on here that I'd moved to (what I think is) a small supplier called Home Energy - they were offering their SVT slightly below cap, and over the past few months, it's all been absolutely fine.

Today I got an email from them regarding the upcoming cut to cap rates - not only are they cutting theirs 3 weeks early, from the 13th March, they are going to be about 4% under cap based on average use.

This to me seems like a very good deal for a new customer, with no tie ins, or smart meter requirements (I have no real opinion there, just saying...)

So - curious why it gets so little airtime here. Is their coverage area very small? Or am I missing something and they could be the next one to go bust? I am a genius at picking the flaky ones...

  • Never heard of them. If it sounds to good to be true it's because it's to good to be true. The smart money has moved to Octopus Energy.

Your search skills are clearly better than mine - as I did try but there are a lot of threads with those 2 words in them, not relating to the specific company!

Oh well, I'll enjoy it while it lasts and hope that Octopus ends up as SoLR if the worst happens...
  • MSE's inbuilt search isn't very good.

I use Google search which you can make site specific, e.g. to search for "Home Energy" on these forums use:

    "home energy" site:forums.moneysavingexpert.com

Think I used home energy ltd reviews - but on google - not the forums own tool - that link came up second - it sometimes just seems quicker to search externally at times - adding mse would have made it first find.

I often have to play with filters etc on the forum search.

It might be fine - but so many small and medium sized have failed in past.

But in that thread - it says company house listing existed since 2016 - so survived post Covid and Ukraine price shocks - more than can be said for c30 other UK suppliers.

I'm in a similar boat, my (what I thought was a lovely Sainsburys fix) ended around the same time. I now pay less than I did on that fix using Octopus Agile & Tracker.

Coverage is the same as other co's National.

Sainsbury's Energy is a trading name used under license by E.ON Next Energy

They are just a white label energy supplier. Or to put it another way, as simple reseller of Eon Next.

Looking at phone number. I would guess it's even the Eon staff that deal with Sainsburys calls
Yes, I'm well aware. But as I'm not with Sainsbury's Energy any more, and my question was about Home Energy, I suspect you may want to reread my OP  :p

    Sorry. You are right.
    Deleted my post. 👍

I guess the danger is like before when so many went bust.
