Smart Parking - Wilmslow

Hi,
I am hoping someone can offer me advice. I have seen a few threads on here about Smart parking and DRP.
I parked in a multi-story car park in Wilmslow in 11th Jan. When I came back to my car I had a parking ticket, which surprised me as I'd paid via the parking app so I appealed.
I recieved the acknowledgment of the appeal on my email, which I still have which said they'd endeavor to get back to me within 35 days but then nothing. UNTIL i got a debt recovery letter from DRP for £170 the other day.
Theres no way to contact Smart Parking so I contact DRP and the chap said that all I can do is go to court but that Smart Parking will have all the evidence that they have emailed me. That they would send to a debt recovery without being certain they are right and went down the right channels. He offered to reduce the debt to £144.50 if I paid today before midnight.
Turns out I was parked in a permit zone, when I log back onto Smart Parking they now show evidence but I didnt know, I havent parked there before so I was in the wrong. But I never got an email from them to say my appeal had been unsuccessful.
Can anyone offer advice? Do I just bite the bullet and pay the £144.50?

You don't have a debt, stop phoning useless debt collectors they are trained to lie!You don't owe £170 or £144.50 DRP have added on a silly extra to scam you even further.If you didn't see the signage it must have been deficient why are you assuming they are right and you are in the wrong.Follow the advice on here and also read the newbies thread, no one pays Not so Smart on here!1

Yeah I am sending a complaint to Smart Parking thank you @Coupon-mad. No I didnt see this @Le_Kirk I got the welcome Newbie message, a link to rules and a link to FAQs but no Newbie thread. I have clearly missed it.0

Thank you everyone for your help. I have emailed them to complain about not receiving a response nor the POPLA code and asked for all correspondence they have on me.
They have responded with a letter they sent, its on plain paper, not letter headed and doesnt show the email address sent to, time or date. I asked for the sent email which shows the date, time and whom they sent to, to prove it was sent.
She has said it comes from an internal system and they don't show that.
She said it shows on their system that it was delivered so I have asked her how they know it was delivered. Do they get a delivery confirmation and can they send it.....currently no response.
I know they're lying. I work for a tech company that has exhausted my email and said this was never received.
I am not entirely sure what to do now. I assume I just wait for this to go to court.
Any advice would be amazing.

Although they have now sent me the POPLA code I cant complain as it has expired. So I've looked and sent an email to BPA. I'll see where that gets me. Thank you for your help, I am a little overwhelmed as I havent done anything like this before. Probably doing it all wrong but I'm giving it my best shot. I'll keep you posted0
