I'm just trying to understand what I am actually covered for with my AA membership.

I know I have Roadside Assistance membership.

I believe this means I have to be at least 0.25 miles from my home to qualify for any assistance?
If the car cannot be repaired at the roadside the AA will get my car to the nearest garage?
However I have recently been advised that they will only take your car to a garage within a 15 mile radius, this correct? 
Also If you request for the car to be taken to another garage outside the 15 mile radius you will be charged £4 per mile, is this correct? 

Maybe I should look at the next level of cover as ideally I would like the car returned to my home address or town.

Read the Ts and Cs which they sent you?

Failing that, they'll be on the website.

They will take it to their preferred garage or a different one if you want them to as long as it’s not further away. 

No idea where the 15 mile radius or the £4 a mile has come from.
