My son is leaving home and is going to rent a 2 bed terraced house with his girlfriend.
What kwh do you think is the average to use on a comparison website?
The house is in Liverpool if that makes a difference with suppliers.

Some comparison sites, such as Confused, will pull the estimated annual usage of the property from a database. This will of course be an estimate based on how much energy the previous occupants have been using so may not reflect what’s your sons usage may be.0

We live in a 3 bed mid terraced and I usually put 12,000 for gas, and 2.500 for electricity. It's been around that usage for the last 10 years or so. Bearing in mind the third bedroom in the attic is rarely used and the radiator is turn to lowest setting, I'd say that's a reasonable starting point.0

The EPC, which should be provided by the landlord by law or you can look it up below will give a rough idea of heat required as well.

Tell him to make sure he reads all the meters himself on the day he takes possession, including any water meter, and to register with the suppliers. If he lets the agent or landlord do this on his behalf he may end up paying for usage by the previous occupier or during a void period.Similarly, he should reject any attempt by the agent or landlord to choose his supplier and monetise him.0

My son is in a 2 bed terrace in Liverpool. His usage is about 6900 kw gas and 1550 kw electricity. His DD with British gas is just under £100 a month. Merseyside and North Wales is one of the highest cost areas in the country.1

Aleksandr and Sergei will give you the national database figures for the property. You can look at similar properties in the street to see what they use. It will also show who the current suppliers are for the property.

Even better is seeing that I use 36% less electricity and 60% less gas than my neighbours!!0 -

It also guesses your tariff based on your start date, and gets it wrong in my case.1
