Smart Meter not connecting

I have an EV and switched to Octopus to sign up for their low overnight tariff for charging. They have fitted a smart meter, but it cannot be read remotely and as a result I have been prevented from using this tariff. How can I overcome this problem?

    Welcome to the forum.
Have you reported it to them and if so what did they say?
  • As Gerry's question above, however in addition:

Does the meter connect to the IHD (In House Display)?

  • Thanks Gerry - they say there’s nothing they can do.

The meter does connect to the IHD.

There's nothing to be done if it's due to inadequate signal strength. Did they send someone out to check that? I'm my case the meters were readable only after the first lot were swapped.
  • I would pursue this through the Octopus complaints procedure

Things I would check are, do my neighbours have working smart meters that update every 30 mins?

Have you tried phone apps like Hugo, Bright and Loop to see if they can see your half hourly data?

Ask them to put you on the waiting list for   Alt-Han  - it's a booster.

@stripling The way i read the problem, it's the WAN not the HAN that's then issue. If so and neighbours have Smart Meters that can be read then, it may be the case that a WAN aerial may help.
