How do I Get Rid of the Smell of Wee?

A couple of days ago my 1 year old Cavalier King Charles !!!!! did something she's never done before and weed on one of our armchairs. Luckily the throw was on it and took most of the wet and this has been washed. I have rubbed at the chair with some water mixed with ariel liquid and left it to dry and repeated this a couple of times. It is bone dry now but still smells of wee!

It is the sort of suedey material that most armchairs are made of and was scotch guarded when we bought it a couple of years ago. Im worried about what else to put on it in case it stains. Ive even sprayed fabrese on it to no avail. (It only smells when you put your nose quite close, not when you are actually sitting on it, but I need to get rid of this smell in case she smells the wee and decides to do it again)

Bicarb (baking powder) is good at absorbing smells. Is this a place you can let some lie for an hour (overnight?) then just hoover off later?

Thanks for your suggestions. I thought about bicarb but was thinking of mixing it in water, which may cause a mark. Didn't think to apply it dry!!! Ive got some white vinegar. Is it likely to stain? (I suppose I could try it on a bit that doesn't show first)

The vinegar might stain so yes a colourfast test is always a good idea.

I've been thinking that with a dog's sense of smell being so much better than ours - using vinegar as mummytofour suggested might well be your better option.

i've removed cat wee stains and smells from carpets following Kim and Aggie's advise.

    1. make up a solution of white vinegar + water, pour onto the stained area so it really soaks in.
    2. cover with thick towel and dance on it to absorb all the water.

    then leave to dry.
    I used a hair dryer.

this totally removed the stale urine pong and discourages animals from using the same place as they dislike the vinegar.

Does it matter what sort of dance you do? ;):D

    Oh dear!!

Right - gotta be the bicarb then... :)

Edit: I've just seen Listerine given as a possible. It's antibacterial and doesn't smell like vinegar.
