Good morning, it's an early start from me after a bad night, lying awake worrying as usual.
It's frosty here, yesterday started off well but soon deteriorated into the usual rain.
Dp1, I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad, what a worry for you and your mam.
Ruby, when we were in Australia my ds gave me melatonin and it went some way to stop these middle of the night wakings. I'm going to order some I think.
TA, I'm another one who doesn't like the annual review with the Dr's!
Wicked Lady, that sandwich must have been massive!
Not a lot going on today, Hope everyone has a good day.
Thinking of Nanny, and Dp1's dad.
Take care folks.

Morning - thanks for starting us off Scarlet, sorrry thst you're not sleeping well. It's so lovely to wake up to light again, but we're back to a minus temperature this morning. Yesterday started out so dull and dreary and then cleared up beautifully, the sun appeared and the heavy clouds vanished. It was just perfect for the funeral.I don't know how everyone squeezed into the tiny church, it was packed with so many standing at the back and in the entrance. As funerals go it went well. There was a very funny eulogy, lots of men looking splendid in Highland dress and a piper to lead out at the end. A lovely tribute to a good man.Today I will have to do a bit of shopping, it's been put off too long. Right now I'm enjoying a bit longer in bed. I hope that everyone is doing well.11

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET for kicking off. After a couple of reasonable nights (by my standards anyway!) I was with you last night, tossin' and turnin' and clock watching. I wasn't worrying about anything in particular, more dwelling on the past. I feel like a wet rag before the day gets going.
My review yesterday went well. All bloods ok, all checks done ok, apart from my painful legs which they can't do anything about unfortunately. So all my meds remain the same with no changes or additions.
We are back to a nippy start after a few mild spells and the heating is on to take the chill off. No fixed plans for today so it will be either a day of pottering or a day of sloth. Probably the latter as I started a new book yesterday and I'm itching to pick it up again!
Have a good folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad or lonely. DP1 I hope there is better news of your dad today. NAN keep on taking it easy, leave the jobs for Mr Fixit or your DD. Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning allA dry morning here in Kent. I might even be able to hang some washing out today!Sorry to hear about your dad DP1. Thinking of youGlad your review went well at the doctor's TA. I had to go for a blood pressure check yesterday. The top number was 2-3 points higher than the computer liked so I have to do a 5 day record now and send it to the surgery when completed. Had a shingles vac for the first time too. I've always hated needles but over the years it's got alot better but yesterday's flaming hurt, and my arm is still tender. The nurse did mention intra-muscular or something like that so maybe that's why. I know, I'm a wimp! Not alot going on today, doing some baking later, chocolate cake I think. Footie and rugby this afternoon and then fish and chips for tea.Take care one and all x12

Morning all. The sun is currently shining here.
I've a busy day, starting with a Band practice down in N London so will have to leave here just after 9am. Have made some ginger biscuits for us to nibble on in the break. Then back here to make sandwiches prior to a dance in Bedford this evening. I might get to watch a couple of the 6N matches but certainly not the England game, which is the last one of the day.
Having turned 70 in December I'm still waiting to be called for anything really, healthwise! It would seem our GP practice doesn't offer any health checks, jabs etc and you have to organise them all yourself. In the past I remember things happening around age 40/50 but there doesn't seem to be the budget or inclination for it these days.
It was a chunky bacon and brie sandwich that filled us both up on Thursday. I might have omitted to mention the side order of proper chips that came with it!!
Happy Saturday everyone.11 -
Morning All
Bright and sunny today but there's a hard frost, I would rather it was like this than the awful rain we've had of late.
One load of washing on the line and another in, I've stripped my bed so will make that up again in a bit. House clean and tidy.
Swimming this morning and then DS1 and hius DP will be coming over with a van to take the bed away I hope. We'll go out for a late lunch so it's looking like a good day!
Sorry to hear about your DDad dp1, hope there's some improvement today.
Stay doing nothing Nanny!
Glad the funeral went well Gers, sounds like a good turn out.
Hope your painful arm improves Chrisca - I hate needles and have been known to faint on sight of one.
Sorry you didn't get much sleep scarlet and TA - I actually had quite a good night for a change.
Right, off to make the bed. Have a good weekend. Take care. XX12 -
Morning all, quick post from me as we're about to go to DGS football match & its in the next little town. He was in high spirits yesterday as he is going to a sleepover for his friends birthday. I was up early so thought I'd do a spot of litter picking across the road. The path through the wooded area is popular with the local high school kids coming home - say no more, picked up a carrier bag full. Also chopped a few blackberry runners that threaten to trip me up every day!DS has just rung to say the boys football is cancelled so the day is now our own. He will be calling later with DGS to collect something he wants for the sleepover.I think I fancy beef stroganoff for tea.Hope you all have a great day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. CHRISCA I had the shingles jab yesterday too. It seems I just scraped in as they stop offering them to over 79's! My arm only feels a tiny bit sore when I touch it so I must have got off lightly. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9

The talk of the shingles jag brought up my rage at NHS Scotland which changed the rules between December last year and January this year. I spoke to our vaccine nurse before Christmas when she told me that I would be eligible from my birthday in February - rang her after it to find out that last minute changes have been made which means I now have to wait until next February.I have complained but that was pointless. Can't see how Scotland has a larger group of people of any age than England. Grrr. Need a second cup of coffee now.
Eligibility, and changes to the shingles vaccination programme:
You’re eligible for the free shingles vaccine if you were aged 65, or 70 (or over) on 1 September 2023.
This excludes people who were aged 66 to 69 on this date. NHS Scotland has started to offer the shingles vaccine to a much larger group of people, to help protect people at an earlier age. We can't do this all at once so it needs to be rolled out on a phased basis over 10 years.

Hi everyone,
I just missed having a shingles jab this year, I fall in the age group that will have it last for some reason, they don't seem to have followed any logical path for it. I'm also probably one of the last who was expected to get a pension at 60 and had to wait till 66 for it. I can't complain though, thankfully we are fine without it, we went without when we were younger to save for a decent pension.
We quizzed last night and came second, not too bad considering we were a team of four, the male of the other couple is having a lot of health issues and was admitted to hospital yesterday.
Laura was at a training course yesterday so Brian was in charge of Esther, but not quite on top of it as she would have liked. At one point she went over to her changing bag, pulled out the small changing mat, spread it out on the floor, sat down on it and signed "change". She'll be 16 months old next week and is very strong willed, like her mother.
dp1, I hope your dad is recovering.
Gers, I'm glad the funeral went well.
Ruby, good to know about the melatonin, I'll keep it in mind for when/if I have another sleepless spell.
Nanny, I hope you're managing to relax and recover properly.
Have a good day.11
