Payment to a Lloyds account that has been switched to Ulster

Options
I’ve just completed a switch from Lloyds to ulster today. To make sure that that the forwarding thing is all in place (I’ve got an ISA that will mature in a few weeks time which will pay into the Lloyds account) I sent a test payment of £1 to the Lloyds account. I was expecting it to arrive at ulster bank a few minutes later but I’m surprised to find that it’s actually been credited to my Lloyds account. It won’t let me transfer the pound back out of Lloyds due to “restrictions” (that’ll be beacuase it’s closed!). Does anyone know if this is normal?!

Did you definitely use the full Current Account Switching Service?

This closes the old account so it shouldn't be visible to you at all, but if today was the switching date then maybe it's still work in progress....

Well I think so, but I must admit I’m having doubts now! I suspect the Lloyds account will disappear overnight given that it won’t let me make a payment out of it, but wasn’t expecting it to accept my £1 payment having got the “done and dusted” text from UB earlier today.

You just need to wait for the account to be fully closed by Lloyds, probably overnight. Once this happens your £1 will move over to the Ulster account.

In theory payments should be forwarded on to the new account for a bit but it's up to you to make sure you tell people new account details.

I would give it a few days as you said it's today + it's the weekend etc then if still an issue contact the bank

Panic over! The £1 has now been forwarded to UB, I just needed to be patient. Thanks for all the replies.
