Morning all,Sorry to hear about your DDad dp1, hope he gets home soon, less confusing for him poor chap xRRuby, glad you had a good night's sleep. DS has been having trouble sleeping since he stopped smoking. I've just ordered some magnesium taurate, which is meant to help with sleep. We can both try it, I've never been a good sleeper either! He's gone away for the weekend to Wales with lots of walks planned - he's certainly changed his lifestyle around since meeting his lady friend. They've taken all of their food & drink. The car was packed- looked like they were going for 2 weeks rather than 2nightsI'll have to raid the freezer for tea, lots in there.Pick up DGS later, DS2 got him yesterday in the end. It's brightening up a bit now after the rain earlier.Must have been a big sandwich WLRight better go and do something useful now, been wasting too much time on right move - DH had to go and look at a property with an previous customer so we had a look first, then I got sucked into looking at houses I'd saved back in 2020/21, I presume lockdown boredom
Prices seem to have rocketed since then.
Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)6 -

dp1 said:Morning everyone
Firstly, Gers is a purvey a wake? I've never heard that word before.
My dad had pains in his chest on Wednesday morning, so my mam rang the doctors who sent a paramedic who sent for an ambulance. 60 miles down the road to our nearest hospital...the pains had stopped by the time he was there. Though we did find out from Tuesday nights carer that he'd been complaining of chest pain the night before but mam had told him he was fine!
It turned out he had had a stroke so he was kept in - not a bad one but worse than his usual TMIs he often has. It doesn't seem to have affected him physically but who knows how it has affected his brain. DD took my mam to see him yesterday and he was very confused, the doctor said it was nothing to do with the stroke, his dementia was being worsened by the fact that he was in hospital - he wants him discharged today if he's had a good night. They're on their way to the hospital now and hopefully he'll come home with them. Every time he tried to eat and drink he was choking so he has to just have pureed food and thickened drinks, we don't know how long for yet. My mam is, understandably, so upset by it all. So I've had little one after school the last couple of days and seem to have spent so much time on the phone keeping everyone updated.
Izzy when I had dizzy spells a while ago it was because of an ear infection.
Right I have a phone call to make to see if dad can get an extra carers visit each day .
Hope everyone has a good day x
Might be worth asking.
He had these alongside pureed food and soups. If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.6 -
Good afternoon everyone
Dp1 so sorry to hear about your dad, I hope the extra care can be arranged quickly.
Nan hope you are comfortable and taking things easy
I have had problems with my car this morning so I have to speak to the kind mechanic who looks after it for me. I have to say I don't enjoy driving and it took me a long long time to get behind the wheel but I did it to help my late husband and now I'm not sure whether to persevere or not. Just another decision to make which when you're used to sitting on the fence is not easy.
Best wishes to the poorlies, sad or worried.
Take care xx6 -
