How much excess before you're IPA'd?

OK I had thought your comment was addressed to me so my reply was irrelevant.
Why shouldn't I post on the Bankruptcy board? I've been on the brink for many months now and you don't have to already be bankrupt to post here. I find your last comments really offensive and totally unjustified; as a newbie it might be better not to jump to conclusions about people you don't know.0 -
Having watched Match of the Day, thought I'd have a look in before bed.
I'll just like to say to some who have posted here I am in a different financial universe to you. In my universe everything now has to be paid in cash. Therefore maximising income is what it is all about. To do so I must avoid an IPA since while this may leave me a little worse off until discharged thereafter I will be in a much better financial place (the sums speak for themselves).
Its also about motivation. As I've said in previous post I've spent yrs seeing my earnings go on servicing debt......well BR drew the line in the sand and no more, from now on what I earn is for me to dispose of how I chose too.
I will not be signing on by the way nor in receipt of any other benefits even while working part time and the money I will save by avoiding an IPA will help me build a solid financial foundation in the credit free universe I now live - and plan to stay in.
My apologies Walter J for how your post has been skewed. However the people that understand your situation will be clear from what you have read here - as will those that don't - fortunately this site is full of the former and generally clear of the latter.0 -
And with that, can we please draw an end to this 'battle' about Praxis' decision. It's not appropriate in this thread, because it was Walter who asked a question, which has been answered but has got lost in the subsequent debate. Whatever others may feel about Praxis' decision, they made it on the basis of what was right for them, given their particular circumstances. They're the ones living with the practicalities of that decision, not us.

There is no reason you shouldn’t post here if you where supportive but most of you posts are not and have not been for the past year because you clearly do not understand bankruptcy, how it works and how it affects those faced with it. If you are so close to becoming Bankrupt I suggest you research it better, and then you will understand why your posts are offensive and get this sort of reaction.

"Newbie"???? You do not need to join any board to be able to read and learn from others, which is what i have been doing for longer than you have been a member, so i havnt jumped to any conclusion about you, merely reacted to what i have seen you do in the past.
I only joined because i was disgusted to find a previous member has left this board because of the comments made by people like you, no in fact partly because of you, as you yourself have forced your opinions on the poster I mention in the past.
This member was one of the more knowledgeable ones on the workings of BR and is a great loss to this board, not that you will probably care. But I do which is why I decide to start contributing
I have witnessed enough over the past year to justify my reaction to you and others like you.
My apologies though to others on this board for having to react this way, but I don’t see why we should just tolerate this all the time. If the moderation of this board was as it should be I wouldn’t have needed to however, as just reporting the offending posts would be enough, but alas we know that not to be the case and ignoring them doesn’t make it go away either and expecting us to is just not an reasonable request.0 -

I genuinely have no idea what you're talking about with the above comments. I can only assume that you're confusing me with somebody else. I've never been involved in any of the slanging matches that have gone on here and have, indeed, been away from the whole site for some months.
I've made many helpful posts in areas of which I have considerable knowledge, such as education, employment and training and I've learnt much from other's postings on this board and in other areas. If you wish to pm me with your concerns I'll happily respond but I object to your saying such things in this way. An active poster over a long period ( a situation you've not yet been in) is bound to have disagreements with others at times but this doesn't warrant comments like yours.0 -
I would like to thank Praxis for answering my original question in a straightforward, pleasant manner (post 43). It just goes to show that there was absolutely no need for the unpleasant rant put forward by Imstillalive.
As I said in my first post, I had no intention of being judgemental and I tried to set the question in a sensitive manner, as per Martins instructions:-
"If you feel it’s important to point something out that the poster may find negative but needs to understand, then it's not a problem, but do think carefully about your phrasing - people can be very sensitive"
This applies to responders too, not just the original poster.
For bankrupcy to have less of a stigma attached to it, it is necessary for people like myself to begin to understand what brings someone to this point. The only way we can learn is to ask questions, but with the level of animosity shown by the likes of Imstillalive, it will be a long time before I dare to try to find out more.
I sincerely hope you find your way through this Praxis, happy new year!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
