12+ purchase - what rights do I have?

Purchase made over 12 months ago with silent night on what I would call an expensive airbed. Used once after purchase and stored in perfect conditions, attempted to use a second time last month and it went flat within 2 hours. Pumped up again, and flat again within 2 hours.
I’ve queried with silent night however they’re saying I can’t return for a refund or exchange as it’s over 12months, but they’ll give me a voucher code for 20% off another purchase with them… which I don’t want.
Do I have any rights to push this further? Because I could’ve got a hotel room cheaper than the one night on an airbed for the price paid!!

Have you checked what is causing it to go down?
Valve, not fully closing?Life in the slow lane0 -
Yes, you have rights, but after this long, the onus is on you to prove the fault was inevitable as a result of an inherently poor design or a manufacturing defect. Your rights also reside with the retailer, not the manufacturer, although are the same entity in this case?
The retailer may ask to inspect it or have someone inspect it. If the problem is not a result of misuse, wear, etc. then you're entitled to a remedy.
My guess is either a faulty valve or a seam that's weakened through it being folded for a long period.0 -
Welcome to the forum.
Is it this Premium Flocked Silentnight double Airbed?

In addition to any guarantee you do have consumer rights but since it is over 12 months old the onus is on you to show that it goes down because of a manufacturing fault and not because you have accidentally damaged it.
Silentnight include a puncture repair kit so that might imply that it is quite easy to damage. However the Amazon reviews include a number who say it deflates because of a production fault.
Example:
...it obviously has a very serious design flaw, as my wife and I have now had THREE of these, and every one has developed a small tear/ hole on the upper surface where the cushioning pattern edge is, and totally deflates during the night. Even after repairing (which we have done several times to these latest two!) it will develop other holes elsewhere on the surface on the cushioning pattern. We can only surmise that during production the plastic/ vinyl material is pressed far too thin to support a normal person's weight...
However if you have found an hotel where you can stay for less than £25 a night that sounds a better buy!0 -
I would make the assumption from the inclusion of a repair kit that Silentnight thing the airbed is easily damaged. It seems a sensible item to provide with any air bed.How and where was the airbed stored to be in 'perfect conditions'?0
