I assume I am the op.
Update is my Daughter took her details to the Police and they said they were going to report her. Thats it now until the Summons arrives.
I cant thank people enough who give their constructive views. I feel sorry for those who have to be sarcastic with their replies. When I have read their replies I have to read what I originally put.
My Daughter is 100% guilty. I am 100% guiity. Any questions I have asked re- her chances etc, and the Police involvment are just for self knowledge. I do not blame anyone else, honest.
I dont know if my Daughters insurance ended with her car being wrote off. I once had a car wrote off and mine was still open and switched it when I got another car.
I expect she will recieve 6points and a fine which could be up to £5,000. I would not be suprised if I got some punishment as well.
Thanks again..0 -
Thanks for the update.
I hope all goes well for her. It's a hard lesson for her to learn and by posting this thread, you may have even stopped someone else doing a similar thing."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
If your daughter has a decent solicitor and the judge is in a good mood, she may get off with a stern warning."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Thanks Missile for your advice. I have spoke to a Solicitor who has been recommended in this type of work. My friend advised me to call him but I only made the call out of curiosity as I have stated that we have no case to defend It was well worth speaking to him.0

it can vary, you need to take into consideration that there is probably a backlog of motoring convictions to be dealt with from the festive period.
i know a 19 year old lad (friend of the family) who was caught for driving with no insurance and without a valid licence, usually an IN10 and an LC offence I would have thought. it went to caught he said he was sorry adn the judge just said he didnt want to see him again - no points on licence, no fine just court costs of £200.
However, over the last year or so they are really clamping down on uninsured drivers, as has been said above its likely that even if Driving Other Cars had of existed on her policy that it would have been void from when her car was written off.
its a cap in hand situation of apologising - trying to explain the reason to the court clearly (but not as an excuse - just so they are fully aware).
Its likely to be an IN10 - though you may find they go a bit lighter on the points due to the circumstances. Be prepared to see increases to insurance premiums for the next few years aswell:o0 -
i've recently rewnewed my policy with diamond and i asked them if i was insured to drive other cars aswell as my own. They stated that just because i was fully comp on mine i was only 3rd party on other cars unless i was on the opthers person's insurance policy as a named driver. It also needs to state on my insurance that i'm allowed to drive other cars i have access to..
the guy on the phone told me so many people make the mistake of assuming that just because person A is fully comp on their car and persoin B is fully comp on their car it doesn't meant Person A is automativally insured to drive person B's car0 -
The Police did not prosecute my daughter for the offence I discussed on here and again I would like to thank everyone for their help.
Following on from the last post I am insured on a commercial vehicle policy and the other day I had arranged to drive my daughters car but upon checking with the ins company I found out that I was not insured to drive another car.0 -
EDIT - just realised this is an old thread.0
