Approved work by insurer not being carried out until after policy expiry date

My insurer has just finally approved by email for some inside roof repairs to go ahead, I have contacted the contractor and the best date they have is 3 weeks after my policy expires, is it still valid? Plus I have my excess of £200 which will be paid by GoCompare, but the offer also runs out at same date? Any advice appreciated

Yes, claims can go on many years beyond the expiry of the policy... my penultimate client was still handling claims from the 1980s (complex international cases involving litigation in multiple countries).
As to the GoCompare Excess policy you need to read the terms if the excess has to be paid in the policy period or just the claim had to be made within the period.0 -
The pertinent date is the date the originating incident occurred.0

For the Home policy it is... the Excess policy maybe not, in the flawed one I had the critical date was the date of claim on the underlying policy.mebu60 said:The pertinent date is the date the originating incident occurred.1 -
Thank you for the comments, I also got confirmation from insurer, relieved!0
