Are there any suppliers who'll replace E7 NOT smart meters please?

I have a 10-year old E7 meter originally fitted as an E10, which is starting to gain time. Octopus, who I was forcibly moved to when they took over Shell (who I was forcibly moved to when Green went bust, said they will not repair or replace it unless I go with a smart meter.

Smart meters DO NOT WORK IN THIS AREA as it's a signal blackspot!

Approx 70% of my (elec only) energy usage is during cheap rate, as I'm a night owl & retired. No storage heaters (have a non-domestic biomass boiler) - just general use, washing machine, kettle, TV etc.

I wasn't able to add a comment on the ongoing E7 thread, no idea why.

Any help/advice gratefully received! 👍

If a smart meter cannot communicate with the network it just becomes a meter that you read yourself.

There is absolutely no reason to avoid one in your situation as long as it is configured for E7.

In almost all cases any replacement meter is going to be a smart meter regardless of supplier.

As above, any issues of non-connection won’t matter as the meter will simply be installed to operate in E7 mode when they put it in, and with no off-peak circuits in your home there’s very little that could go wrong configuration wise. With no single the meter will functionality operate no differently to any other digital E7 electric meter and you’ll need to continue providing regular readings as normal.

As has been said above if a smart meter cannot communicate it is still a meter regardless.

Suggest you raise the fact that it will need the time and E7 hours configured during installation as these would normally be picked up over the network, which won't happen if there's no signal.

Smart meters could very well work even though you say you are in a signal black spot.
    I am the same.
No mobile phone signal at all in my house on any network.
Octopus fitted smart meters & the gas meter is just over 15 metres away from the electric meter in a solid built house
    All work fine.
And yes I know they communicate using ZigBee.
