Plastic or Wire pull out drawers in kitchen base units

I need more storage in my kitchen, so been looking at putting some pull out drawers in a base unit.

Went to B&Q to show my husband them, but they only sell the plastic enclosed drawers now, not the wire ones, they said it was because the Plastic ones are more durable, but they are also more expensive.

Does anyone have experience of the 2? Wondering which is best or are they about the same, guess you can put smaller things, ie spices in the solid plastic ones.

My OH used something like these to make internal drawers for our daughter's cupboards.  The base and back were from free boards from Ikea, the front a nice bit of timber.

making these, you can make the width you need.  The sides he used came in 2 or 3 different lengths back to front.

All of my wire baskets ended up falling through over the course of time in my last kitchen. They were weighed down and bowed. 

Proper drawers all day long.
