On
a 36 month PCP the end day of the lease coinsides with the end of
manufactures warranty and is the day the car is due a service ( 18000 or
12 months which ever is the soonest) the T& Cs say the car should
be returned without dashboard lights deplayed. Am I legally bound to have
the car serviced for a 3rd time immediately before I hand it back as the advisory light will be displaying the car needs a service?
Assumimg I sign up or the new car at 12noon on the 1/9/24 when does the 3 year cotract end 12midnight on 31/8/27, 12 noon or 12 midnight on the 1/9/27. When does the Manufacturers warranty run out and am I obliged to have the car MOT'd too?
What happens re the above if I return the car early by a few days (away on holiday on date of return/ end of contract)?
I ask these questions, all other things being equal regarding the contract & car condition, as the dashboard display & MOT are for the future but under fair wear & tear guidance its unclear. This would entail several hundred pounds of costs for no benefit to me.
I
have spoken with the finance provider - Santander who referred me to
the BVR&LA who suggested I asked citizens advice !!!!! So no help
at all.
Can anybody help please

Normally any agreement will stipulate that it must be serviced in accordance with manufacturers handbook and normally the clock starts ticking on the 12, 24 and 36 months from date of registration not when you purchase it so you may find the 3rd service is due before the end of your 36 month deal depending on when it was registered.
I have given cars back early for this very reason with no issue but make sure you start with registration date.0 -
Hand it back without doing the service. It will go to a holding centre or auction anyway and will be serviced once it is sold on.0

PCP you have the balloon payment & option to buy, Lease you simply hand car back.
In terms of service. I would get it done, to avoid being charged for it.Life in the slow lane0 -
