Car insurance renewal with accident

Hi, I recently took out car insurance with a new insurer after receiving a very high renewal quote from my existing one. I found one for much cheaper and paid for the full premium with the start date still a couple of weeks away.
A couple of days later I had an accident that was my fault and started a claim with my current insurer. My question is do I need to tell my new insurer about the accident and seeing as I have already paid in advance for the policy in full can they now up the price? Also I still don't know the full cost of the claim so would be unable to supply this information until it has been fully costed by the repairers and accepted by the insurers. For information the accident involved no other vehicle and no other third party claims.

Yes you need to inform them of any changes, such as accidents, between now and when the policy incepts and they can change the premium. Its only after the new policy has commenced that the premium is fully locked in (obv most people dont have any changes between buying a policy and it starting) for anything that happens after the start
