EV tariff with British Gas
I have an EV and i have been trying for the last month to get British Gas to allow me to move onto the EV tariff that they advertise everywhere. I have a smart meter and an EV which i was under the impression were the only qualifying requirements. They are simply saying that i don't qualify. Does anyone have any information as to why this might be and how i address it. When i try to raise a complaint they simply leave me on hold for ages and don't get back to me and it cuts off. For example i am on my third hold period this morning for the last 25 minutes and they have just put me through to another irrelevant department so i am back on hold again. Any suggestions

Its British Gas. Switch. They are useless in every regard.5

You are not on an E7 tariff are you? That would be a problem for any supplier. If not I would look to switching to Octopus or Ovo.
What EV model do you have? What charge point do you have installed?1 -
Also consider Eon NextDrive, which gives you 7 hours of charging time. That's long enough that you may not need to install a charge point.Reed2

I have a Tesla and no we are on just the normal tariff at the moment. They did finally get back to me and now they have decided there is an issue with the smart meter and that is why no tariff. They can tell me what the issue is or when it will be fixed and apparently as my complaint is under policy it has to be closed the same day even though their answer has not answered my issue.
I think i will have to move but now i am worried that the smart meter will be an issue with the next provider.
British Gas are awful, their complaint process is completely circular, its like being in Alice and Wonderland with no exit door0 -

Definitely switch to Octopus. Don't waste your time with BG. Find someone who can give you a referral link for the £50 bonus when you join.0

If you want to go the granny route, then at least fit a dedicated 32 Amp external socket.Life in the slow lane0 -
If 7 hours charging time with Eon NextDrive suits better than 5 hours charging time find someone who can give you a referral link for the £50 bonus when you join.0
