How much overseeing does this financial deputy actually do?  They don’t sound like they’re very effective if they’re allowing a vulnerable person to spend that sort of money on takeaways and alcohol regularly.
Their responsibility is to ensure that bills are paid, benefits are correct and there are savings for the big ticket items. And a weekly budget for food. If someone can afford takeaways instead of cooking out of that weekly budget, that is their prerogative. A financial deputy manages money overall, not the affordable lifestyle choices within that, which this is.

If someone has capacity around what they eat and drink, and can afford to do so, they are making the unwise decisions which many of us do. The issue is how to step out of that and make changes

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

You are having to earn nearly £10,000 for this spend - incentive enough for me.
Or - work out what you get paid (net) per hour and how many hours you have had to work to fund that.

Budgeting, lists, otherwise writing things down, maybe getting some apps to help good idea.

As for the alcohol not sure what to suggest, if you addicted you probably always going to spend getting it, maybe try getting it cheaper?, otherwise try some kind of detox?.

As for takeaways maybe try getting things cheaper elsewhere eg supermarket, I don't know what kind of food you like but for me I like the Chicago Town Stuffed Crust pizzas, way cheaper than a Dominos or whatever, I stock up on them when on offer if I can. If pizza not your thing then apply same logic to what food you do enjoy.

Also if you can't go without certain takeaways then maybe try to cut down while also getting things from supermarket.

Are you ok cooking for yourself?, if not maybe get some help with that.
  • I'd suggest you buy shares in e.g. Mitchell's & Butlers......here you get shareholder discount on food AND drinks.....at least that way you can save at least 20%.
  • And the rest of your money you just waste?
