British Gas charged me the wrong prices TWICE and now I owe hundreds?!?

Hello! I’m hoping someone here might be able to help, as British Gas aren’t giving me a straight answer.
British Gas charged me the wrong prices TWICE. In November, they cancelled and reissued some bills as an “adjustment” which meant I owed around £75 more. Then again in February, they cancelled and reissued ALL my bills from April 2022 meaning I now owe a couple of hundred pounds?!? I’ve contacted BG several times for an explanation, and although they've admitted charging me wrong, they haven’t explained exactly what's happened or when, so without any specifics regarding dates or prices, I can't easily tell whether I’ve been overcharged or not.
Does anyone have any experience with this or understand what’s going on? Is it even legal to cancel bills from 2 years ago and suddenly re-charge considerably more?
For info: I log monthly meter reads, pay on DD, and I’m not in debt to them (aside from these unexplained “rebilled" price hikes)

BG are notorious for cancelling bills and reissuing them. Do you have all the bills they've issued? If not, make a Subject Access Request. You should then be able to do the sums and see whether you're in credit or debit. The transfer from the old billing system to the new one has also been quite wonky.1

Thank you for replying to my post. Yes, I can see the balance has increased on my bills by a couple of hundred pounds.Gerry1 said:BG are notorious for cancelling bills and reissuing them. I didn't know they had a new billing system. Mine were cancelled and "rebilled" in both Nov 23 and Feb 24 ... Do you happen to know what month they transferred to their new system?0 -
It's not the same date for everyone. They'll tell you when it's happened. The new account numbers start with A.1

Thank you for the info. I checked and we've been an A account type since we switched to BG, so I don't think it's a system transfer issue in this case. Really appreciate your response. Have a lovely day!Gerry1 said:It's not the same date for everyone. They'll tell you when it's happened. The new account numbers start with A.1
