doodling said:Hi,
Whilst your Mum has mental capacity to manage her own money (and your post doesn't suggest that she doesn't) then there is nothing you can do to prevent her from doing whatever she wants with it. (Just as I can't tell you what to do with your money).
Note that if she wanted to she could simply revoke the LPA.Which can’t be emphasised strongly enough. You cannot control anything without her agreement even with an LPA when she had capacity, and she can withdraw that consent any time she likes. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Is your mum aware that she has been scammed? Is she keen for you to help her avoid similar problems or are you trying to sort it on your own?I have POA for my mother and am trying to keep her as independent as possible. However, these days she wants me to do any of her financial 'stuff'. I have opened a second account with Santander for her to use, but with a relatively small amount in it. She's happy to just use that and not use her accounts with more money in them.If your mother is 'onside', she might be willing to do something similar, but depending on what she still does with banking/money that might not completely solve your problem. Mum could run up an overdraft, and there doesn't seem to be a way to prevent that. One solution might be a savings account rather than a current account, but it all depends on how amenable your mother is to what you're trying to do. (I haven't pursued that as it's not needed for my mother.). . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..
